Cornell Horn

Director, BA LLB

Cornell Horn founded CHA Law in 2021 to provide clients with focused and efficient legal services in deceased estate administration, deceased estate litigation and deceased estate property transfers as this is an area of the law that’s often overlooked and underserved with very few attorneys specialising in this field of law.

Cornell obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science and Economics from Stellenbosch University in 2009 in and a LLB from the University of South Africa in 2015. Cornell was admitted as an attorney of the High Court of South Africa in 2017, a Conveyancer in 2020 and Notary Public in 2021.

Cornell is a deceased estate specialist with a keen interest in estate planning, deceased estate disputes as well as cross border probate services. Besides deceased estate administration and litigation Cornell also has an interest in commercial law and alternative dispute resolution and is currently working toward becoming a member of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (Ciarb).

Tamaryn Ruiter

Attorney, LLB

Tamaryn is an admitted Attorney of the High Court of South Africa. She obtained her Bachelor of Laws Degree(LLB) from the University of the Western Cape in 2020, and completed her articles of clerkship at a prominent conveyancing firm in Cape Town.

Tamaryn has a keen interest in conveyancing and property law and is always looking for ways to provide clients with friendly and efficient service ensuring that every property related transaction she deals with is as stress free as possible . Tamaryn joined CHA Law in September 2022 and currently manages our conveyancing and property law department. Outside of work, she enjoys playing hockey and spending time with friends/family.

Jenny Barfoot

Attorney, LLB

Jenny Barfoot joined CHA Law in May 2024 as Candidate Attorney in our Deceased Estate Department. Jenny obtained her Bachelor of Laws (LLB), cum laude, from the University of South Africa (UNISA), graduating with distinction in recognition of her academic excellence.

Recognised for her meticulous attention to detail, analytical skill, and clear communication, Jenny is dedicated to delivering practical, results oriented legal solutions. Outside of work Jenny enjoys reading and practicing pilates.

Marli-Ann Opperman

Candidate Attorney, BCom LLB

Marli-Ann Opperman joined CHA Law as a Candidate Attorney in July 2025 and completed her BCom LLB degree from Eduvos and Stadio respectively. Marli-Ann has developed a strong passion for deceased estates as well as deceased estate dispute resolution.

Marli-Ann strives to always assist clients with empathy and professionalism. Her attention to detail and commitment to excellence makes her a valuable member of the team. Outside of work Marli - Ann enjoys spending time with her fiancé and sausage dog Filla.

Johan Swart

Intern

Johan Swart joined the CHA Law team in late 2024 as an intern to gain some practical experience in the legal industry. Johan has a Bachelor of Commerce in Law and is currently completing his post graduate LLB

Alison Conradie

Legal Assistant

Alison Conradie joined the CHA Law team in 2025 and assists in the conveyancing department. Alison is an integral part of our conveyancing team and ensures everything runs smoothly behind the scenes. Outside of work Alison enjoys spending time with her family as well as singing in her Church’s praise and worship choir.

Michelle Gough

Receptionist

Michelle Gough is the Receptionist at CHA Law and is the first friendly face clients see when visiting our firm. She is passionate about delivering excellent client service and ensuring that everyone who contacts or visits our office feels welcomed and supported. In addition to managing calls, scheduling, and general office coordination, she plays an important role in keeping daily operations running smoothly for both clients and colleagues. Her professionalism reflects the firm’s ongoing commitment to excellence and client care.
